-
We believe in community-supported care and strive to make doula services accessible while ensuring our doulas are fairly compensated for their time and talents. Our sliding scale model reflects the true cost of care and the reality that financial circumstances vary.
To determine where you fall, we invite you to reflect on what you can afford, the value of our offerings, and the difference between sacrifice and hardship in your financial life. Flexible payment plans are available for every option, and we encourage you to reach out if this would help make doula care more accessible to you.
Paying at the highest tier supports another parent in our community to receive doula care.
We encourage honest self-assessment and trust you to choose the tier that aligns with your circumstances.
$3200 – Community Sustainer
This tier reflects the full cost of doula care and helps sustain our ability to offer services to those with fewer financial resources.
If you have financial security, access to generational wealth, or economic privilege, we invite you to invest in birth justice by paying the full amount. Your contribution helps ensure that doulas can provide care to all families, regardless of financial barriers.
You may fall into this tier if most or all of the following apply to you:
I can comfortably meet all of my basic needs (food, housing, healthcare, transportation).
I am debt-free or my debt does not impact my basic needs.
I own property or rent higher-end housing.
I am employed or do not need to work to meet my needs.
I have savings and expendable income (e.g., I can buy coffee, books, or new clothes without financial stress).
I can afford vacations and time off without significant burden.
If this describes your financial situation, your payment uplifts not just your own care, but another parent’s access to support.
$2400 – Equitable Exchange (Sustainable Rate)
If the full cost of doula care is a considered investment but does not create financial hardship, this is your tier. Paying at this rate keeps doula care accessible while ensuring doulas are compensated fairly.
Before selecting this tier, we encourage exploring flexible payment plans to meet the full cost, if possible, to reserve sliding-scale spots for those in greater need.
You may fall into this tier if most or all of the following apply to you:
I am able to meet all of my basic needs.
I may have some debt, but it does not significantly impact my ability to afford necessities.
I rent or own a mid-level home and have stable housing.
I have a steady job or multiple streams of income.
I have some financial savings and expendable income.
I can afford some new items and take vacations every few years.
If this describes your financial situation, your payment sustains our work while keeping our services accessible to more families.
$1600 – Access-First Rate
If paying at the higher tiers would create financial hardship and interfere with your ability to meet your basic needs, this is your tier.
Before choosing this option, we ask you to consider whether family, friends, or community support could help supplement the cost. This helps ensure that sliding-scale spots remain available for those with no other financial resources.
You may fall into this tier if most or all of the following apply to you:
I sometimes worry about meeting basic needs, but I consistently manage.
I have debt that occasionally impacts my ability to afford necessities.
I rent or own lower-cost housing or have only recently gained stable housing.
I am underemployed or work multiple jobs.
I have little savings and limited expendable income.
I mostly thrift or buy used items rather than new.
I have to actively save in order to take time off work or travel.
If this describes your financial situation, this reduced rate is here to ensure you can still receive the doula care you deserve.
Our sliding scale pricing is designed to make doula care accessible while ensuring fair compensation for birth workers. We trust that families will assess their financial situation with integrity and choose the option that best aligns with their needs.
If you’d like to talk through your options, we welcome you to do so during a consultation—we’re happy to help find the best fit for your circumstances. However, we kindly ask that you refrain from messaging us to challenge our pricing.
We understand that this model may not be for everyone. If you’re looking for other doula services, we invite you to explore:
