Your personal needs, hopes, experiences and circumstances are unique, but you are not alone in this remarkable journey.

Throughout pregnancy and early parenthood it is normal to experience a wide-range of emotions from strong hopes and fears about your birth, about the new life to come, to feel stretched far past your comfort zone, and to wrestle with the changes in your identity, body, and relationships.

Due North Doula Care services provide physical, emotional, and informational support to people and their partners during labor and birth, as well as to families in the weeks following childbirth. Our Doula Care services are built on experience that helps you navigate any birth place (hospital, home, or birth center) and the transition into parenthood.

Much of what unfolds during birth is the result of the way a parent has prepared – physically, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually, as well as the kind of information they have received and the quality of support they have surrounded themselves with. That’s why we work with clients not only during labor itself, but in the weeks and months leading up to the birth. We support you in making informed choices well before your estimated due date so during delivery you can feel relaxed, confident, and comfortable with the birth team you’ve assembled.

Numerous clinical studies have found that Doula Care during childbirth:

  • tends to result in labors with fewer complications

  • reduces negative feelings about one’s childbirth experience

  • reduces the need for induction, forceps or vacuum extraction, and cesareans

  • reduces requests for pain medication and/or epidurals

Research shows parents who receive support can:
