Dalecia Young is the founder of Due North Support Services LLC, an organization dedicated to advancing culturally responsive, trauma-informed care for families in Alaska. Calling Alaska home, Dalecia is raising her two children in Anchorage, where she draws on her deep roots in both her Alaska Native and Black heritage to inform her work and leadership.
Dalecia’s career is centered on promoting birth equity and addressing the gaps in prenatal and postpartum care. She has trained and mentored many aspiring doulas, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills. Dalecia has supported families through a variety of birth-related needs, including prenatal, postpartum, and community-based care.
Her educational journey has been complemented by extensive experience in community health and advocacy, where she’s contributed to numerous initiatives aimed at supporting Indigenous, BIPOC, and marginalized families. Dalecia has cultivated partnerships with organizations such as the Alaska Birth Collective, the Alaska Native Birthworkers Community, and the Center for Indigenous Midwifery, all of which align with her vision of inclusive and culturally grounded birth care. These collaborations have been an important part of her journey in advancing birth equity and community-centered care.
She is committed to creating pathways for aspiring doulas and birth helpers, offering mentorship, and ensuring sustainable programs that empower families and birthworkers alike. Through her work, she continues to uplift her community, advocating for a future where every family in Alaska has access to the care, support, and respect they deserve.
Collaborating for Change
Together, Reba and Dalecia create a dynamic partnership, blending direct care with big-picture leadership. Their shared mission is to create lasting change in Alaska’s birth work community—one family and one doula at a time.
Reba Lugo-Sena
Lead Community Doula
Reba Lugo-Sena leads our doula services with unwavering dedication and care. As the primary doula and coordinator for the Community Doula Program, Reba connects families with compassionate, culturally informed birth support while ensuring volunteer doulas are equipped to thrive in their roles.
Born and raised in Alaska, Reba is one of 14 children and a twin. She lives in Anchorage with her wife and their beloved fur baby, Charlie. A proud professional auntie, her deep sense of family and community has shaped her approach to doula work. She brings this warmth and love into every interaction, creating spaces where families feel nurtured, respected, and empowered during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
With a steady and reassuring presence, she provides hands-on care through prenatal visits, continuous labor support, and postpartum follow-ups, helping families navigate their journeys with confidence. She also helps families connect with local resources, ensuring they have access to the support networks and services they need.
Whether offering comfort measures during labor, guiding new parents through infant care, or simply holding space for families to process their experiences, Reba’s care is rooted in trust, cultural humility, and an unwavering belief in the strength of those she serves.
In addition to her hands-on care, Reba oversees the matching process between doulas and families, ensuring every family’s unique needs are met. Her passion for building connections and fostering trust makes her an integral part of Due North’s mission to uplift families and doulas across Alaska.
